Chapter Fourteen
Peaches-
I got stuck with watching the girls, because Nico had to work. I’m used to Kai, and Racheal’s a nice girl, so I didn’t mind that much.
I was just telling them to stop jumping on the couch when Jay called me. I didn’t know what’s going on between me and Lani, but I wished she would return my calls or text me back.
I wouldn’t mind her being mad at me if I knew why, but for me not to know was killing me.
What Jay told me on the phone would make a lot of sense, because she started acting this way when she got out of the hospital.
I didn’t know that Jay didn’t put her hip, so if you asked me, I shouldn’t be punished for that. But I was going to meet up with her and apologize.
I looked at the address that Jay sent me and was feeling some type of way about it, but I still got the kids dressed.
I put them in their seats, strapped them up, and drove to the park. Why I couldn’t know where Jay stays at was beyond me, but it’s whatever.
When I got to the park, Lani was sitting at a table on her phone. I let the kids out to go play, while I talked to Lani.
“Hey.” I said, as I walked towards her.
“Hey.” She responded dryly.
“Look Lani, I don’t know what I did for you to be mad at me, but I wish you would stop, because I miss us. You don’t answer my phone calls and you don’t text me back. I miss my cousin.”
“Okay.” She said, not looking up from her phone.
“Stop Lani! Tell me what I did so I can fix it, because you making me want to hurt you, acting all nonchalant and shit.”
“Peaches you didn’t think about me.” She said, as she sat her phone down.
“What you mean?” I had an idea of what she meant, but I wanted to be clear.
“Why you didn’t tell me that she planned on taking Kai from me? Who side are you on?”
“I’m on your side, forever and always. I told Jay, and I thought that he was going to put you hip. I thought that you knew about it.”
“If I knew about it, you don’t think I would have talked to you to vent?” she asked. “You know how I am. You should have made sure.”
She was right. She would have called to vent to me about everything. “You right and I’m sorry. I should have made sure, but it’s too late to make sure now. Everything happened already and I can’t change it. But, can you please stop being mad at me? You hang with Coco and Jazmine, and I be all by my lonesome.” I said, honestly hurt by the way she been treating me.
“I’m sorry Peaches, but I was the only one out of the loop and I didn’t think it was fair. You my cousin, so you’re the main one that should have made sure I knew.
